Darius Brown, a 13-year-old African American boy, was tragically killed on August 3, 2011, while playing basketball at Metcalfe Park in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood. Darius, known for his love of basketball and his promising talent on the court, was an unintended target in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when shots were fired from a passing car, striking Darius in the neck.
