Everick Lavon Blue Coleman, a 43-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on August 7, 2016, during his birthday party in Chicago, IL. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. Coleman was celebrating his birthday with a group of about 200 people when shots rang out around 2:20 a.m., hitting him in the head and chest.
