On Sunday night, April 30, 2023, 29-year-old Lemard Fields, a music producer, artist, and videographer from Chicago, was fatally shot while driving in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The incident occurred near 61st Street and Kimbark Avenue, where police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating 26 rounds fired and multiple calls reporting two people shot.
