Steven Wilborn, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 14, 2019, in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. in the 900 block of West 73rd Street. Officers responding to reports of a person down found Wilborn with a gunshot wound to his head. He was transported in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation into Steven Wilborn's death led to the arrest of Isaiah White, an 18-year-old male. White was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. According to prosecutors, on the day of the incident, White and a witness picked up Wilborn and drove around in a red Honda CR-V. They eventually pulled over, and White allegedly pulled Wilborn out of the car, went through his pockets, and then shot him in the head with a silver revolver. After the shooting, White left Wilborn's body at the scene and fled. Later that evening, White was involved in another incident where he fired an AR-15 rifle out of the window of the same vehicle while driving around the neighborhood.
The investigation revealed that White's movements throughout the day were tracked via his cellphone, which matched the time and location of the shooting. Surveillance footage also showed White getting out of the red Honda at a nearby gas station and later running into a house with the AR-15 rifle before officers arrived. The police recovered the rifle and other evidence linking White to the crime. Despite the serious charges, White showed little emotion during his bail hearing, except to roll his eyes and blow a kiss to his mother in the courtroom.
