In the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a violent encounter in Anderson, South Carolina, claimed the life of 22-year-old Christian Jordan Woods. The incident, which unfolded at a makeshift residence on Quinn Street, also resulted in the death of 59-year-old Rona Paul McGirt and left a third individual wounded. Authorities were alerted to the scene around 7:30 a.m. after the surviving victim managed to exit the home and flag down help.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered the bodies of Woods and McGirt inside the dwelling, both having succumbed to gunshot wounds.
Christian, born in Greenville, SC, on December 12, 2002, was known by loved ones for his good heart and trustworthy nature. Described as being full of life, he was the father of two young daughters, Lillabeth and Nora Woods. His family, including his parents Jeremy Wyatt Boyce and Brandi Woods, and his twin sister Dakota, remembered him as a funny and loving person who deeply cherished his family and children.
The investigation into the triple shooting led Anderson County sheriff's deputies to identify 55-year-old Darren Demetrius Martin as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and faced a series of charges, including two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. During a bond hearing, Martin was granted a $10,000 bond for the weapon charge and a $50,000 bond for the attempted murder charge, with the condition that he have no contact with the surviving victim. However, he remained incarcerated as the bond for the murder charges was to be addressed at a later date. Court records revealed that Martin had a prior murder charge from 2020 that was ultimately dismissed.
