In the late winter of 1909, a male lawman named John McAdams met a violent end in the mill village of Orr Mill, just outside of Anderson, South Carolina. At 43 years of age, he was serving as a Deputy Constable, appointed by the Anderson County Sheriff to maintain order among the mill workers.
