Rico Stringer, a 27-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on October 29, 2019, in East St. Louis, Illinois. Lontae Jefferson, a 16-year-old male from East St. Louis, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder. Allen Edwards, a 19-year-old male from Cahokia, Illinois, also faced charges of first-degree murder. Additionally, an unnamed juvenile was charged in connection with the case. According to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jefferson and Edwards shot Stringer with the intent to kill or cause great bodily harm.
