Tynaz was a college student aspiring to become a teacher while also working a full-time job. Her family described her as a beautiful, energetic young woman who loved to laugh and dance. The senseless violence that claimed her life has left her family and friends devastated. Her mother, Tyrina Medley, recounted the harrowing details of the night, including how the car Tynaz was in was repeatedly shot at and eventually crashed. The driver and another passenger fled the scene, leaving Tynaz and another injured man behind.
The investigation into Tynaz Shorter's death is ongoing, with Area Four detectives handling the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a homicide following an autopsy.
