Amber Jean Swartz-Garcia, a 7-year-old American girl, was abducted on June 3, 1988, while playing jump rope in her front yard in Pinole, California. Amber, who was of Caucasian descent, was the daughter of Bernie Swartz, a police officer who was killed four months before her birth, and Kim Swartz. After her father's death, her mother lived with Al Garcia, and Amber took his last name.
