Melissa "Azul" De La Garza, an 18-year-old Latina artist from Chicago, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on September 25, 2021. The incident occurred in front of her home on the city's southwest side, shortly after she had returned from shopping for Halloween costumes with her mother. Melissa, who was affectionately known as "Azul," was sitting in her car when she was shot multiple times.
