He had been working as a clerk at the North Second Discount store in Loves Park for the past 12 years, where he was appreciated for his personable nature and ability to connect with customers. He was also involved in the aviation program at Rock Valley College and had previously worked at Emery Air at the Chicago Rockford International Airport. Friends and colleagues described him as charismatic and someone who made everyone feel like family.
