Daveyonta D. Fairman, a 26-year-old African American male from Champaign, Illinois, tragically lost his life on December 13, 2021. He was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m. in the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, which he sustained during a shooting incident involving occupants of two moving vehicles near Fifth and Washington Streets in Champaign. This incident occurred shortly after noon on that fateful Monday.
