On May 19, 2024, Jawon E. Brown, a 24-year-old resident of Rantoul, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department in Urbana, Illinois. He was brought to the hospital via a personal vehicle after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
