William Payton Jr., a 61-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 9, 2022, in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred on a sidewalk in the 7500 block of South Ellis Avenue. This fatal shooting has left the community in shock and mourning, as they remember William Payton Jr. for his contributions and presence in the neighborhood.
