On the evening of September 11, 2016, 20-year-old African-American male Bobby Deandre Clayton was fatally shot in the Gate City public housing community of Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred shortly after a community peace rally aimed at promoting nonviolence. As residents gathered and socialized post-rally, gunfire erupted, leading to chaos and panic among those present. Witnesses reported hearing as many as 60 shots fired from multiple weapons.
