Tacara Tunstall, a 19-year-old African American woman from Chicago, IL, tragically lost her life on August 14, 2022, in a drive-by shooting in the Gresham neighborhood. Despite being rushed to St. Bernard Hospital, she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

The shooting also resulted in injuries to four other teenagers. A 17-year-old girl was critically injured with a gunshot wound to her back, while an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were both shot in the arms. Another 17-year-old boy was shot in the torso. All the injured were taken to local hospitals, where they were treated and listed in various conditions ranging from serious to fair.
