Kanari Gentry-Bowers, a 12-year-old African American girl, tragically lost her life on February 11, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. She was struck by a stray bullet while playing at her school playground on a Saturday night. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of W. 57th St in the city's West Englewood neighborhood.
