A 32 year old mother is assumed to be the first victim of a serial killer Angela Ford was a 32-year-old mother of two children at the time of her disappearance and murder in 1999. Angela had a happy spirit. Her children remember her fondly, and remain advocates for justice for Angela.
One day in 1999, Angela Ford left her house to pick up report cards at her children's school. They asked to go with her, but she said she would be right back and that she loved them. It remains unknown if Angela ever made it to the school or what time of day she left home.
This was the last time her children saw her.
Angela was missing for several days before being found in an abandoned building less than two miles from her house. It remains unknown if she was reported missing during this time or how many days she was missing. On June 16, 1999, Angela had been beaten, sexually assaulted, strangled, and left for dead - yet she still clung to life. She was found in an abandoned building located at 209 East 46th Street in Chicago approximately 2 miles from her home.
Angela had severe blunt-force trauma and was declared brain dead. Therefore, the police were never able to interview Angela about her attack. However, DNA was obtained. Angela remained in a coma for about a year and a half before passing away on January 4, 2001, at Cook County Hospital.
Angela is one of fifty-one women believed to be victims of one or more serial killers in Chicago over the past couple of decades. These women were strangled, and most victims were black women found in abandoned lots or buildings. Sadly, there is very little information about these women and their stories.
