Veronica Lopez, a 15-year-old girl, was fatally shot on May 28, 2016, while riding in a vehicle on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. The tragic incident occurred over the Memorial Day weekend when gun violence surged in the city. Lopez was targeted as part of a gang-related shooting, allegedly carried out by Patrick Johnson, a member of the Milwaukee Kings street gang.
