On July 10, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Tyana Bosley. The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Yates Boulevard. Tyana and her 32-year-old aunt were walking home from Tyana's first summer job at Jimmy John's on Michigan Avenue when they were ambushed by two gunmen from a nearby empty lot.
