Oscar D. Mallett, a 36-year-old African American male from Champaign, Illinois, tragically lost his life on August 27, 2022. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall located in the 700 block of North Neil Street. According to reports, a crowd had gathered in the area when an argument broke out. During the altercation, Oscar D. Mallett was shot multiple times in the chest. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
