William Culpepper, a 55-year-old white male, was tragically murdered on October 21, 1974, in Cordele, Georgia. Culpepper was working as a clerk at a local liquor store when the incident occurred. During an armed robbery, Thomas Knight, who later converted to Islam and changed his name to Askari Abdullah Muhammad, entered the store and fatally shot Culpepper. Another clerk, A.V.
