Jesse Eugene Tanner Jr., a 19-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on September 1, 1978, in Centerville, Georgia. Deputy Tanner, who had been serving with the Houston County Sheriff's Office for just one year, was attempting to serve an arrest warrant when he was fatally shot.
