James Neal Bowers, a 32-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on April 4, 1979, in Columbus, Georgia. Officer Bowers was a dedicated member of the Columbus Police Department, having served for seven years. On the day of his death, he responded to a robbery-in-progress at the Majik Market, a local convenience store located at 2936 N. Lumpkin Road.
