Herbert Lee Evans Jr., a 23-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 3, 1988, in Augusta, Georgia. Officer Evans was serving with the Augusta Police Department at the time of his death. The incident occurred inside the Augusta-Richmond County Joint Law Enforcement Center, where another officer was handling a service revolver.
