Staff Sergeant Clyde Almond 'Tub' Merritt, a 53-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on January 3, 2000, in Douglas, Georgia. Merritt, who served with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, was responding to an incident involving Officer James Bryant of the Broxton Police Department.
