In the late summer of 2007, the life of 28-year-old Aubry Deondre 'Jay-Jay' Hector was violently cut short in Columbus, Georgia. A Black male, Hector was the victim of a brutal murder on August 10, a crime that would lead to a complex investigation and the arrests of six individuals. The grim discovery of his death was compounded by the fact that his body had been set on fire at a location known as Flat Rock, an act that spoke to the callousness of his killers.
