On a tragic Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia, the life of 57-year-old Ronald Eugene 'Ron' Clark, a White male, was brutally cut short in a senseless act of violence. The events of April 26, 2013, unfolded after Clark, a local businessman, had just cashed a check at a business on Marietta Boulevard. Unbeknownst to him, a predator had concealed themselves in the back of his furniture installation van, lying in wait.
As Clark drove away, the assailant emerged and launched a vicious attack, striking him multiple times with a hammer.
Despite the surprise and violence of the assault, Clark bravely attempted to defend himself. A struggle ensued inside the van, culminating in the attacker pulling out a gun and shooting Clark in the abdomen. The fatally wounded businessman was left behind as his killer exited the van and made a swift escape. Witnesses reported seeing the assailant flee the scene, joining two other individuals in a waiting black Jeep Cherokee. The getaway vehicle was distinct, with a piece of white cloth deliberately obscuring its license plate, a clear attempt to evade identification.
First responders found Clark in the roadway next to his van and transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his severe injuries and was pronounced dead. The Atlanta Police Department launched an investigation, with robbery being the apparent motive. Investigators were aided by surveillance footage from a nearby business and a passing MARTA bus, which captured images of a person of interest. This individual was seen getting into the black Jeep Cherokee, described as a 2008 to 2010 Limited Edition model with side panels.
