In the winter of 2014, a life was tragically cut short on the streets of northwest Atlanta. Anthony Holland, a 42-year-old man, was shot and killed on January 8th following a dispute on English Avenue. The incident left a community searching for answers and a family grappling with the sudden loss of a loved one. His passing was marked by a Celebration of Life Service held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Willie A.

The investigation into Holland's death led authorities to a 52-year-old College Park man named Martin McGriff. It was alleged that an argument between McGriff and Holland escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting. In the weeks following the incident, law enforcement tracked McGriff to New York, where he was apprehended on February 13th.
Following his arrest, McGriff was extradited back to Atlanta to face legal proceedings. He was formally charged with the murder of Anthony Holland. During his first court appearance on Valentine's Day of 2014, McGriff was denied bond and subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail to await trial for his alleged role in the death of Anthony Holland.
