Curtis Lamont Carter, a 22-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on May 28, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia. The incident occurred on Second Street, where Carter was shot five times during an argument over illegal drugs. The shooter, Daniell F. Simmons, 27, who was also African American, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a weapons charge in Richmond County Superior Court.
