In the late hours of a November evening in Augusta, Georgia, a dispute shattered the night and ended a life. On November 16, 2023, 32-year-old Myron Garnett was fatally shot on Verdery Street, the day after his birthday. The Black male's death triggered a homicide investigation that would soon point to a woman he reportedly lived with and members of her family.
Witnesses recounted a heated argument between Garnett and 30-year-old Shakeichia Jackson prior to the shooting.
The disagreement was allegedly over money that Jackson claimed Garnett owed her. The conflict escalated, and in the aftermath, Garnett was dead. The investigation quickly led to the arrests of Jackson, 20-year-old Anthony Williams, and 15-year-old Rodrick Braxton, all charged in connection with Garnett's murder.
As the investigation continued into the following year, authorities identified a fourth person of interest. In March 2024, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office announced they were searching for 19-year-old Cameron Williams, who is related to Shakeichia Jackson and Anthony Williams. He was named as a suspect in the shooting death of Myron Garnett and is considered to be armed and dangerous.
