In the late summer of 2014, the quiet community of Lithonia, Georgia, was rocked by a grim discovery that would unravel a story of violence and loss. On September 15th, a maid at the Knights Inn on Panola Road entered a room to perform her daily duties, only to be confronted with a scene of horror. Inside, she found the bodies of 34-year-old Nathaniel Dumas, an African American male, and 31-year-old Marquita Smith.
