In the early evening of January 17, 2015, the sound of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Savannah, Georgia neighborhood. When police arrived at a duplex on Clars Avenue, they discovered the body of 23-year-old David Rashamel Goldwire in the yard. The young African American man had been fatally shot. His death marked another instance of gun violence in the city, which had experienced another shooting just a day prior.
