In the summer of 2015, a tragedy struck the community of Waynesboro, Georgia, with the death of Samuel D. Freeman, a 30-year-old African American male. On the evening of July 1st, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Freeman was on the 800 block of Cedar Street when he was shot multiple times. One of the gunshots fatally wounded him in the torso, and he also sustained injuries to his right leg.
Despite being rushed to Georgia Regents Medical Center for emergency medical treatment, Freeman succumbed to his injuries shortly after the shooting. The Waynesboro Police Department, in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, promptly launched a homicide investigation into the incident, which was officially ruled as a firearms-related homicide.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officials have actively sought assistance from the public, urging anyone with information about the event to come forward and aid in their investigation. The community of Waynesboro was deeply affected by the violent loss of one of its members, and there remains a strong desire for justice to be served for Freeman and his family. However, despite the ongoing efforts of investigators to gather evidence and pursue leads, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Samuel D. Freeman.
