On February 1, 1992, in Richmond, Virginia, Anthony Carter was fatally shot by Cory Johnson, a member of the Newtowne Gang involved in a violent drug-trafficking operation. Johnson, accompanied by accomplices, approached the residence of Bobby Long, who had failed to repay Johnson for a drug supply. Upon Long opening the door, Johnson opened fire, killing both Dorothy Armstrong and Anthony Carter. Long attempted to flee but was also fatally shot by Johnson in the front yard.
