In the quiet town of Bainbridge, Georgia, the life of 32-year-old Marcus Tajaun Bell was cut short on the evening of Monday, September 14, 2015. Bell, a Black male employed at a local Pizza Hut, was fatally shot at an apartment located in the 300 block of South West Street. The incident, which occurred around 8 p.m., was preceded by a heated argument, according to witnesses who were in another room and heard the quarrel escalate to the sound of gunshots.
Following the shooting, Bainbridge Public Safety investigators began their search for a person of interest, a man known by the name of 'Scooter.' Witnesses described the individual as a Black male, approximately 26 years of age, with a distinctive tattoo on his left arm, a short afro, a black spot in the white of his left eye, and two earrings in his left ear. He was last seen leaving the area on a dark-colored beach cruiser bicycle, wearing a blue shirt, black jeans, and black shoes.
The investigation into Bell's death took a significant turn with developments in another case. Antonio Demarquis Glenn, who was known by the nickname 'Scooter,' was arrested on April 30, 2016, for the murder of Quentieria Knight. During the investigation of Knight's death, authorities uncovered evidence that linked Glenn to the murder of Marcus Bell. This breakthrough came after a search of Glenn's residence in relation to the Knight case produced a firearm that ballistics testing connected to both homicides.
In February 2017, a Decatur County grand jury officially indicted Antonio Demarquis Glenn for the murder of Marcus Bell. The charges against him in Bell's case included Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. He was also indicted on separate charges, including Malice Murder, for the death of Quentieria Knight. The cases were slated to be tried together. Following a three-day trial, a jury convicted Glenn on all counts related to the murder of Knight, and he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years for the gun charge.
