Leon Monroe Chandler, a 34-year-old Black man, died on July 1, 2019, after a violent turn of events in Bainbridge, Georgia. In the early hours of that Monday morning, police were called to Memorial Hospital’s emergency room when word came in that a gunshot victim had been brought in. The shooting, investigators said, traced back to a card game at a home on Dennard Street, where a disagreement escalated into an altercation and a gun was drawn.
