When police arrived, they discovered that Damon and another 22-year-old man, Wendell Washington, had both been shot. The two men were rushed to Memorial Medical Center for emergency treatment. While Washington's injuries were not life-threatening, Damon Card succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.
