In the fall of 2017, the life of 15-year-old George Akins Jr. was tragically cut short in Savannah, Georgia. A sophomore at Windsor Forest High School, where he was a running back and linebacker on the football team, Akins was known for his infectious smile and dedicated work ethic. On the evening of Saturday, October 21, 2017, just a day after playing in a victorious game, Akins was waiting for his parents to pick him up outside a McDonald's near the Savannah Mall.
