In the late afternoon of a February Saturday in 2016, a man lost his life in a grocery store parking lot near Marietta, Georgia. Corey Dwight Thomas, a 41-year-old from Lithia Springs, was shot while inside a car and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The incident, which unfolded just before 5:40 p.m. on February 27th, drew a swift response from Cobb County police.
