Michael Mays, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on June 6, 2016, in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The incident occurred at his residence on Franklin Street around 7 p.m. while he was gathered with acquaintances. According to reports, the group was recklessly handling a handgun when it accidentally discharged, fatally wounding Michael. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office were promptly involved in the investigation.
