In the early evening of Friday, February 15, 2019, a dispute at the Henry Way Apartments in Hawkinsville, Georgia, ended in the shooting death of 27-year-old Shundrecus Jackson, an African American male. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which was called in to assist the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, stated that the incident occurred around 6:18 p.m. at the apartment complex located on 6th Street. Jackson was fatally wounded and died from his injuries.
