In the late evening hours of September 3, 2016, in Savannah, Georgia, a string of violence unfolded that left one man dead and another injured. Troy Antwan Black, a 35-year-old male, was found deceased by police at a residence in the 1200 block of East Bolton Street. He had been fatally wounded by gunfire.
The events of that night began to draw the attention of law enforcement at approximately 10 p.m. when officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Ash and Anderson streets. Shortly after, they received another report of a gunshot victim in the vicinity, on the 1300 block of East Bolton Street. There, they discovered Antonio Jackson, 35, inside a vehicle, suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Jackson reported that he had been walking east on Bolton Street when an unknown individual shot him.
While investigators were processing the scene of Jackson's shooting, they were alerted to a second victim at the nearby residence on the 1200 block of East Bolton Street. It was there that they found Troy Antwan Black, who had succumbed to his injuries. At the time, authorities stated that they did not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
In the immediate aftermath of the shootings, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's violent crimes detectives launched an investigation. They appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for the death of Troy Antwan Black and the assault on Antonio Jackson. However, in the years that have passed since the incident, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the case.
