On the night of September 30, 2016, the sound of gunfire broke the quiet on Hull Street in Sylvania, Georgia. When police responded, they discovered the body of 33-year-old Jason Young, a Black/African American male, in the carport of a residence. He had been shot and succumbed to his wounds within minutes. The Sylvania Police Department, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, immediately launched a homicide investigation into the death of Young.
