Courtney Wells, a 27-year-old woman from Guyton, Georgia, was found dead on January 15, 2017. Her body was discovered off the side of Riverside Drive by a passerby. The Effingham County Sheriff's Deputies initially treated her death as suspicious, noting that her personal belongings were scattered on the opposite side of the road from where her body was found. At the time, the cause of death was not immediately released by the authorities.
