Jason Boykin, a 32-year-old African American male, was found dead in his home in Columbus, Georgia, on April 11, 2017. His girlfriend discovered his body when she returned home late that night. She initially thought he had left the stove on and tried to wake him, only to realize he had been shot. The Muscogee County Coroner confirmed that Boykin died from a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at 11:50 p.m. This tragic incident marked one of the early homicides in Columbus for that year.
