On the evening of April 12, 2017, the life of 30-year-old Daniel Lee Gilliam, a male resident of Brunswick, Georgia, was tragically cut short. Gilliam was discovered outside a mobile home on Simon Drive around 8:30 p.m., suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to the Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A lifelong native of Brunswick, Daniel was remembered by those who knew and loved him for his passion for fishing and the time he cherished with his family. He was known for his constant smile and his willingness to go out of his way to help anyone.
The Glynn County Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Gilliam's death, working to piece together the events of that fatal evening. Their investigation led them to identify three suspects in connection with the murder. More than a year after the shooting, in June 2018, authorities announced that arrest warrants had been issued for Don Earl Johnson Jr., 39, Rashad Demar Wright, 28, and Rahad Quayshawn Muhammad, 26, all from Glynn County. The charges against the three men included robbery and murder.
Following the issuance of the warrants, Don Earl Johnson Jr. and Rahad Quayshawn Muhammad were taken into custody. Johnson was already in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections at the time the warrant was served.
