On June 7, 2023, Christopher “Chris” Suttles, a 39-year-old man from Brunswick, Georgia, was found dead at an encampment for the unhoused on Merchants Way. Suttles had sustained a gunshot wound, and despite lifesaving efforts, including CPR, he succumbed to his injury.
