On a Father's Day in Macon, Georgia, 57-year-old Emmanuel Stroud Sr. was in his mother's kitchen cooking dinner when he stepped outside, telling her he would be right back. He never returned. His daughter reported him missing on June 18, 2017. Less than a month later, his remains were discovered by a crew working on power lines in an alley in the 3500 block of Clark Street. An autopsy revealed that Stroud Sr. had been shot once in the left side.
His family was left wondering who would do something so horrible to a man they said was always trying to help people.
The investigation into his death continued for several months. Tragically, during this time, Stroud Sr.'s son, 24-year-old Emmanuel Stroud Jr., was also shot and killed in an unrelated incident in September 2017. The death of the younger Stroud was later ruled to be a case of self-defense.
In February 2018, a breakthrough was made in the case of Emmanuel Stroud Sr.'s death. Two teenagers, Malcolm Peek and Jaquavious Moore, both 17 at the time, were arrested and charged with his murder. A grand jury later indicted both teens on charges of malice murder and felony murder in connection with the shooting death of Stroud Sr.
