He had been shot multiple times in the upstairs hallway of his residence at the Eastwyck Apartments.

In September 2017, a significant development occurred in the case with the arrest of 17-year-old Delvin Gates, who lived in the same apartment complex as Livosi. Gates was subsequently charged with murder. The investigation suggested that the motive for the killing was burglary.
